Flowers and ornamental trees are given priority in the gardens built in houses of most urban areas, but now in view of the cost of vegetables in vegetable markets and the use of chemicals and pesticides used in growing them, many people are paying attention to agriculture. Related trees have gone to the plants. He himself is growing vegetables in the gardens of the house and is also motivating other people around him for this. This is a new farming method, due to which a person is getting fresh and healthy vegetables sitting at home at a low cost. Until recently, people often planted different types of gardens in villages. Like – Mango gardens, Guava gardens etc. Gardens related to different trees. These gardens required a huge amount of land. But now due to the lack of availability of land in modern times and due to many reasons, the size has become limited.

The garden can be divided into many types on the basis of its texture and use, the details of which are as follows –

  1. Home or Family Garden
  2. Urban Garden
  3. Community Garden
  4. Ornamental Garden
  5. Educational Garden
  6. Therapeutic Garden

1. Home or Family Garden

Such gardens are created inside the house or apartment. these are made with the help of balconies, roofs, walls and pots or pots of the houses.

2. Urban Garden

Gardens that are used to grow different types of food items for domestic use. It is called an urban garden. Depending on the use of the food items obtained from them, it can be of two types –

  1. For economic benefits: The food items obtained from these gardens can be sold by the garden owner in grocery stores, vegetable markets, restaurants or homes.
  2. For domestic use: These gardens are established on private land. The food items obtained from them are only for the domestic use of the person.

3. Community Garden

Community gardens means these gardens are developed on public land. These gardens are not only cultivated, but they are also used for various social works.

4. Ornamental Garden

Such gardens which are used for decoration in the house, hotel, restaurant or park are called ornamental gardens. Various types of ornamental and flowering trees and plants are grown in these gardens. Due to these, the beauty of home, restaurant, hotel or other places increases.

5. Educational Garden

The main use of such gardens is for environmental, agricultural and education related research work and for fulfilling the objectives mentioned in the school curriculum. These gardens are established in open spaces or in interior spaces.

6. Therapeutic Garden

Therapeutic gardens are established in hospitals, nursing homes, trauma centers and medical colleges. The main purpose of these parks is to provide a healthy and open area for the entertainment of sick and patients, for walking. These gardens directly contribute to the psychological and emotional improvement of the patients.

Gardening at Home

The following things should be kept in mind while setting up a garden at home, otherwise the growth of the planted plant will be affected.

  • For the garden at home, a well-lit ventilated place should be chosen.
  • Organic manure should be used according to the need of the plant to be planted in the soil.
  • For adequate availability of water to the plants, irrigation arrangements should be made first. If you want, you can give water to the plants yourself.
  • The selection of fertilizer or organic manure should be done very carefully, otherwise the growth of plants will be affected. Fertilizer should be used at least twice a year in the garden, which is environment friendly.
  • It should be monitored to prevent diseases and pests. If the plants are infested with pests, it should be treated with home remedies or organic matter. Use of pesticides should be avoided.
  • Garden located at home enhances the beauty of your home. Therefore, it should always be cleaned. Plants will also be affected due to dirt in it.

Importance of Home Garden

There are many benefits of installing these gardens at home. You will easily feel the positive effect of these gardens, which are as follows –

  • We will get healthy and fresh vegetables at home.
  • We will not have to travel to buy vegetables.
  • Vegetables grown at home will not contain chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which will have a positive effect on health.
  • You will not have to spend extra money in buying vegetables, which will increase your savings.
  • Due to the non-use of pesticides and chemicals, their quantity in the environment will decrease.
  • Agricultural education will automatically spread.
  • By giving some time to the garden located at home, such as weeding, watering, cleaning, etc., your mental stress will be reduced. Doing physical labor will improve health.
  • Some plants emit a fragrant smell, coming in contact with which gives relief in respiratory and related diseases.
