Movements of Protoplasm & It's Importance
In the cell, protoplasm moves in a various direction and various types, this is known as movements of protoplasm. The movements of protoplasm are following types –

1. Cyclosis
the movement of protoplasm in the cell is called as Cyclosis. Cyclosis is two types -
a. Rotation
b. Circulation
a. Rotation
When the protoplasm in a cell moves around a single vacuole in one direction, it is called rotation. Example – in Hydrilla or Vallisnaria leaf cells.

b. Circulation
When a cell has more than one vacuole and the protoplasm moves around the vacuoles in different directions, it is called circulation. Example – in Tradescantia.

2. Ciliary Movement
In this the cell moves with the help of cilia. Example – in Chlamydomonas , in male gamets of Moss & Fern.

3. Amoeboid Movement
In this the protoplasm moves as a mass. This type of movement can be observed in Amoeba, Leucocytes and gamets of Slime molds & Spirogyra.

Brownian Movement
The Brownian movement is a specific characteristic of all types of colloidal solutions. It is seen by the Robert Brown in 1827 and after his name it is called as Brownian movement. Brownian movement found in Sol stage of protoplasm. Suspended particles of protoplasm shows Brownian movement because Due to the presence of uniform charge on the particles in Sol stage, they keep colliding with each other while moving in different directions. This movement is known as Brownian movement.
The viscocity of protoplasm decreases when the temperature is increases, due to which the Brownian movement increases fastly.
