Science 

The word science is derived from the Latin word scire - to know, which means 'to know'. All types of studies are included under science, that is, all the fields of root, consciousness, tangible and intangible are included. Still there are mainly three departments of science. Social science, natural science, abstract science. Under social science, political science, civics, sociology etc. humanities subjects are studied. There are two subdivisions under natural science – physical science and living science. Chemistry, physics, geology and astronomy come under physical science, while zoology and plant science mainly come under biology. Under abstract science, abstract subjects are studied like – Mathematics.

  • Father of Zoology: Aristotle (The name of his book is Historia Animalium, in which the classification, structure, nature and reproduction of animals are mentioned.)
  • Father of Botany: Theophrastus (The name of his book is Historia Plantarum, in which plants of various uses are described.
  • Father of Microscopic Anatomy: Marcello Malpighi.
  • Father of Binomial System and Modern Taxonomy: Carolus Linnaeus (The name of his book is Systema Naturae, in which animals and plants are classified and binomial system is described.
  • Father of Palaeontology: Georges Cuvier
  • Father of Modern Embryology: Carl Van Wer.
  • Father of Modern Genetics: Gregor John Mendel (He formulated the law of heredity.)
  • Father of Eugenics science: Sir Francis Galton.
