  • Its origin is in the neighboring country of Nepal, where the main river Kosi is formed by the meeting of seven river streams. The main stream of these seven river streams is the Arun river, which originates from the 'Gosaithan peak' of Tibet in the north of the Himalayas.
  • The Kosi river joins the Ganges river from the left side near a place called Kadhagola (Kursela) in the state of Bihar (India). It flows through the cities of Supaul, Purnia and Katihar in the state of Bihar in India and joins the Ganga near Kursela.
  • The total length of Kosi river is 720 km or 447 miles.
  • According to studies done by many scholars and naturalists, the Kosi river has a tendency to move west and in the last 200 years, it has moved approximately 133 km or 83 miles west from its original source. The biggest thing is that slips are accidental.
  • In the rainy season, it brings with it a large amount of silt and sometimes it brings with it a large amount of water and breaks the embankments and returns to the old river course, due to which a large plain area is in the grip of flood. comes In this way there is a danger of a terrible disaster.
  • Because of the change in its course, 'Kosi River' is also called the Sorrow of Bihar.
