Solution of Energy Crisis

For the solution of Energy Crisis, we should follow the steps taken by the government from time to time. At the same time, we should see whether we get any lesson from the energy crises that occurred in the past or not? At the time of the Second World War and the oil crisis of 1973 or in the subsequent years, many such steps were taken, which removed the Energy Crisis to a great extent. We have to check the relevance of those measures at present.

1.  A Behavior Change Information Campaign

An information campaign that motivates the general public to use oil and gas with savings can be an effective step. In this information campaign, people should be made aware that how important these energy resources are for the country. These energy resources are very important for the soldiers who protect the country along with the industrial progress in the country.

Campaigning during World War II caused many people to lock their vehicles at home so that the oil could be used by their country's military. At this time, the number of its soldiers was also almost doubled by Britain, for which more energy was needed. At that time this campaign proved to be very effective.

During the oil crisis of 1973 also such campaign helped a lot. When the miners went on strike after the oil crisis of 1973, a campaign called 'Save it' was launched to reduce the wastage of energy. Through which the importance of energy was explained to the general public and they were appealed not to waste energy resources in useless works. But the campaigns run for saving energy at the domestic level have not got that much success. People are not willing to change their habits, they have become materialistic.

2. Suggestion From IEA

The IEA was formed in 1974 after the energy crisis of 1973. The IEA made a number of suggestions for energy disruptions, highlighting home remedies. Dependence on Russian gas can be reduced by this measure. These include replacing boilers with heat pumps, improving home insulation and lowering the thermostat by one degree.

3. Increasing Renewable Sources

We have to increase our renewable energy resources. Their capacity has to be increased. On receiving electricity from renewable energy sources, we will have mainly two advantages. Firstly, our energy needs will be met and secondly, we will be saved from pollution. That's why the government should provide more subsidy on solar energy, wind energy etc., so that it can reach more people.

4. Waste Management and Bio Gas

Every day, domestic waste is taken out from cities and villages, whose disposal has become a complex problem. If we make biogas from garbage and generate electricity from this gas, it will prove to be very effective. In cities like Delhi, thousands of tons of garbage comes out every day, which when dumped, creates a mountain of garbage. A plant has been set up in Haryana to convert waste into biogas. Due to this, not only Haryana is getting rid of garbage, but organic manure is being obtained for use in the fields. The cost of such a plant is high, but it is a commendable step.

5. Nuclear Energy

Nuclear energy can also be used as an alternative. Although the risk of radiation is more than this, but the amount of pollution coming out of it is also very less. Disposal of its wastes is a challenging task. We should increase the use of nuclear energy more.

6. New Ways of Producing Energy

  • We can convert the temperature difference of sea water into energy by taking energy from geothermal energy. For this, there is a need to focus on the necessary technology.
  • In other sources, energy can also be generated by using agricultural materials like sugarcane, molasses, grains etc.
  • Biomass based ethanol can be an alternative to petroleum products. Work is being done on this in other countries like India, America etc.
  • Hydrogen energy can also prove to be an alternative to energy. Research is going on on this, the results of which are very encouraging.
